one day at dinner, marita asked us what punctuation mark we are feeling right now -- kipp responded an upside-down exclamation point, since that's the beginning of something exciting ... i think that's fitting to title this next entry, seeing as i leave the country TOMORROW!!!!
orientation has been going SO great! our second week was full of more sessions -- a midway checkin, relationships, teaching, physical health / insurance, sexual identities in foreign countries, living in community, logistics, etc. we also did a SILENT RETREAT, which was SO cool. it was the perfect time to focus on centering ourselves, prayer and mentally preparing to leave the country so soon. one of the workshops i loved was the Enneagram -- where I found out I'm a 2 .... could not be more accurate. Read over the different types and let me know what you are! it really is great to learn so much, be around these great people, and get exciteddd for ecuador!!
in our free time, we've also been playing a LOT of fishbowl (including bob fosse as a clue once -- yay dance!), mafia (charles, joe and i dominated as townspeople) and using 'silent coyote' to quiet down (or our fave, the villanova V). we've become so comfortable with each other that a teaching lesson can result in writing love poems, random laughing fits can ensue during moments of silence ... and mateo just keeps quoting "this is so sad."
i'll leave you with two great quotes from presenters:
"Falling in love with God is like untangling the knots in your life."
"This isn't like what Jesus did -- loving others, caring for the poor.... this is what Jesus did."
praying for you all -- love and miss you!
